Testimonial Tuesday: Tongue Tie

April 11, 2017

Tongue-tie is the condition where the lingual frenulum, the band of tissue that attaches the tongue to the floor of the mouth, restricts tongue movement.

Signs of Possible Tongue-Tie

  • Nursing mom: sore or cracked nipples, pain with feeding, radiating breast pain, Low milk supply and plugged ducts/mastitis.

  • Baby: difficulty latching or suckling, clenching nipple, compressive suck, noisy feeding-clicking, unlatching frequently, slow weight gain, excessive fussiness and reflux-like behavior.

Chiropractic's Role in Tongue-tie

  • Chiropractic can be used at any point in a childs life starting from the moment they're born. 80% of babies are born with misalignments from the birthing process which can cause troubles with breast feeding including latching and tongue tie.

  • Chiropractic can help before during or after a tongue tie revision, by balancing out the musculature and relieve pressure on the nervous system.

  • Gentle adjustments can allow the neck to have a better range of motion which allows baby to rotate evenly and efficiently to the right and left side making it easier for them to latch on both sides.

  • Chiropractic can be used in conjunction with a Tongue Tie release-maximizing results. In some cases chiropractic can prevent the need of the procedure altogether.

Tree of Life Tongue Tie Testimonial

"The bodywork Dr. Chelsea did along with Declan's tongue tie release was vital. Once his frenulum release was complete, there was soft tissue tension that needed to be worked on, which is where Dr. Moe came in. His latch still needed work (clicking and nipple lip sticking to latch) Once the body had settled, Declan's latch improved, decreasing the amount of air he swallowed, reducing reflux, gasiness and improving sleep. Now the he didn't have to deal with these issues anymore. His released jaw from birth has also been allowed to grow."
